Sheppard Air Force Base is a USAF base located 8 km north of the central business district of Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. It is the largest training base and most diversified in Air Education and Training Command. In honor of Texas Senator John Morris Sheppard the base was named after him, a supporter of military preparations before WW II.
