Description

The Puerto Rico Flag was officially adopted in July 1952 and consists of five equal horizontal bands of alternating red and white, a blue isosceles triangle with a white five-pointed star in the center. The red color stands for the bloodshed by brave Puerto Ricans for their freedom. The white color stands for their triumph and peace in their quest for independence, also as individual liberty and keeping the government in balance. The blue triangle stands for the Republican Government and its three branches: executive, legislative and judicial parts of government. The white star represents the Puerto Rican Territory "The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico".
