Description

NROL-5 mission was nicknamed "Capricorn", launched on January 29, 1998, under USA-137 satellite. The launch happened in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), Space Launch Complex 36 (SLC-36A) located in Cape Canaveral in Brevard County, Florida using the Atlas IIA rocket. It is positioned in Molniya orbit. The design is based on Quasar 12 or Satellite Data System (SDS). Its function is as Communications satellite, an artificial satellite that relays and amplifies radio telecommunication signals via a transponder; it creates a communication channel between a source transmitter and a receiver at different locations on Earth. Its current status was unknown but was able to enter outer space and do its service.
