Description

NROL-61 mission was nicknamed "Spike", launched on July 28, 2016, under the USA-269 satellite. The launch happened in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) located on Cape Canaveral in Brevard County, Florida using the Atlas V 421 rocket. It is positioned in Geosynchronous Orbit (GSO), 35,808 × 35,779 km × 2.8°. The design is based on Quasar 20 or Satellite Data System (SDS). Its function is as a Communications, an artificial satellite that relays and amplifies radio telecommunication signals via a transponder; it creates a communication channel between a source transmitter and a receiver at different locations on Earth. Its current status was presumed active and was able to enter outer space and do its service.
