Description

NROL-38 mission was nicknamed "Drake", launched on June 20, 2012, under the USA-236 satellite. The launch happened in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) located on Cape Canaveral in Brevard County, Florida using the Atlas V 401 rocket. It is positioned in Geosynchronous Orbit (GSO), 35,815 × 35,773 km × 3.1°. The design is based on Quasar 18 or Satellite Data System (SDS). Its function is as a Communications, a system of United States military communications satellites. At least three generations have been used: SDS-1 from 1976 to 1987; SDS-2 from 1989 to 1996; SDS-3 from 1998 to the present. Its current status was presumed active and was able to enter outer space and do its service.
