Description

The first great Georgia State Seal was specified in 1777. The obverse (main face) side consists of three pillars that symbolize the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of the government. The guardian standing symbolizes he is ready to defend the principles of the Constitution "Wisdom, Justice and Moderation". On the reverse side displays the "Agriculture and Commerce 1776" with images of the seashore with a ship at anchor near a wharf. It also includes a small boat that represents internal traffic and the man plowing a field and a flock of sheep signifies the agricultural aspect of the state.
