Description

Arizona Diamondbacks is a professional baseball team from the USA, playing since 2000. Founded in 1998, by Ken Kendrick and headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. The franchise started three years earlier when the owner held a contest for its name. Fans were asked to give name options. Jerry Colangelo headed the franchise, he managed the Diamondbacks until 2005 due to financial challenges. In 2004, Colangelo resigned, and the following year he sold his stake to a group of investors. The team made several off-season acquisitions, after their fifth-place finish in the inaugural season, including Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson, who won four consecutive Cy Young Awards in his first four seasons with the team.
From 2012 up to the present, the team emblem is more minimalistic. The designer emphasized the letter "A". The design consists of red Sedona (which denotes copper mined in the state and is associated with a canyon near Sedona) and beige Sonoran (resembling the shade of the sand of the Sonora desert). It also includes white and black colors.
