Description
The Oklahoma State Seal features a star with five corners representing the five civilized Indian Nations namely Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole tribes. The top ray displays the seal of the Chickasaw Nation with an Indian warrior holding a bow and shield. The Upper right ray is the emblem of the Choctaw Nation, comprised of a tomahawk, a bow, and three crossed arrows. The Upper left ray depicts the seel of Cherokee Nation, a seven-pointed star bearing a wreath of oak leaves. The Lower right ray displays the seal of the Seminole Nation, houses, and a factory on the shore of a lake with a tribesman paddling a canoe which represents the early customs. The lower left ray depicts the seal of the Creek Nation, it consists of a sheaf of wheat and a plow which is a symbol of the agricultural industry. The forty-five small stars surrounding the central star represent the 45 U.S states that existed before Oklahoma's statehood and the large star at the center (the 46th star) represents Oklahoma's admission as the 46th state.
