Description
Offutt Air Force Base is a US Air Force Base located south of Omaha, near Bellevue in Sarpy County, Nebraska. It is the command post of the US Strategic Command, the 557th Weather Wing, and the 55th Wing of the Air Combat Command. Built in 1921 and controlled by Air Combat Command. It is named in honor of 1st Lt. Jarvis Jennes Offutt, the first native of Omaha to become a casualty in World War I.
