Description
The New York State seal was adopted in 1778. It features two women one carrying a sword and the other one with a scale, a ship on the Hudson River, the shore and the mountain range, grassy shore and mountain range.
The two women represent Justice and Liberty.
The ship symbolizes inland and foreign commerce.
The shore and the mountain range depict the beauty of the Hudson River.
