Description
The New Jersey State great Seal was originally designed by Pierre Eugene du Simitier in 1777. It features three plows, forward-facing helmet, a horse's head, female figures Liberty and Ceres, and the streamer at the foot of the emblem containing the motto, "Liberty and Prosperity" and the year of statehood 1776.
The three plows symbolize its agricultural tradition.
The helmet signifies sovereignty.
The horse's head is a symbol of NJ state animal.
The female figures symbolize the motto "Liberty and Prosperity".
