Description
Maxwell Air Force Base is a US Air Force installation base located in Montgomery, Alabama. Built in 1910 and controlled by Air Education and Training Command. It was named in honor of 2nd Lt. William Maxwell, a native of Atmore, Alabama.
The base is the headquarters of Air University and the center for Joint Professional Military Education. Its host unit is the 42nd Air Base Wing.
