164th Airlift Squadron
Description
The 164th Airlift Squadron (164 AS) is a unit of the Ohio Air National Guard 179th Airlift Wing located at Mansfield Lahm Air National Guard Base, Mansfield, Ohio. The 164th is equipped with the C-27J Spartan. Its role is for tactical airlifting and has been active since 1942. Part of its mission was the air defense of Ohio. In 1961, it was federalized as part of the 121st tactical fighter wing and group ofr a period of twelve months starting October.
