Description
The Wyoming State Flag was adopted in January 1917 and consists of a red and white border and blue field, a bison, and a state seal placed on the shadow of the bison.
The red border represents the blood who have died in Wyoming of both the pioneers and the Native Americans. The white section is a symbol of virtue and purity. The blue represents the blue sky and mountains.
The bison symbolizes the state's wildlife and is a tribute to the custom of branding livestock.
The seal represents the state and its government.
