Description
The Utah State Flag was adopted in February 2011 and consists of the state's seal, bald eagle, sego lily, beehive, the years 1847 and 1896, and the motto, "Industry".
The bald eagle (national bird) symbolizes protection during war and peace.
The sego lily (state flower) symbolizes peace.
The beehive represents industry and hard work.
The year 1847 is the year the Mormon Pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley and the year 1896 is the year Utah was admitted as the 45th state in the Union.
