Description
The Pennsylvania State Seal consists of a crest containing a full sail ship (symbolizing commerce globally), a plow (symbolizing the State's rich natural resources), and three sheaves of wheat (symbolizing fertile fields and the State's wealth of human action and thought). The stalk of Indian corn and olive branch on the sides of the crest are symbols to recognize the state's past and hopes for the future. The eagle on the top of the shield is a symbol of sovereignty.
