Description
The Ohio State Flag designed by John Eisemann, and officially adopted in 1902 features a swallowtail design, a blue triangular field, seventeen white stars, and red and white stripes.
The blue triangular field represents Ohio's hills and valleys.
The seventeen white stars are symbols of the original thirteen colonies and the additional four stars mean the state becoming the 17th state admitted to the Union. The "O" in the design is for "Ohio" and is also related to Ohio's nickname "the buckeye state".
The red and white stripes represent the roads and waterways of the state.
