Description

NROL-24 mission was nicknamed "Scorpius", launched on December 10, 2007, under the USA-198 satellite. The launch happened in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) located on Cape Canaveral in Brevard County, Florida using the Atlas V 401 rocket. It is positioned in Molniya Orbit, 39,899 × 461 km × 63.4°. The design is based on Quasar 16 or Satellite Data System (SDS) . Its function is as a Communications satellite, an artificial satellite that relays and amplifies radio telecommunication signals via a transponder; it creates a communication channel between a source transmitter and a receiver at different locations on Earth. Communications satellites are used for television, telephone, radio, internet, and military applications. Its current status was presumed active and was able to enter outer space and do its service.
