The Chicago Cubs is a professional baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Founded in 1876 by Thomas, Laura, Pete, Todd, and Joe Ricketts. It is the current leader in the World Series. The Cubs, first known as the White Stockings, was a founding member of the NL in 1876, becoming the Chicago Cubs in 1903.
Throughout its history, they have played in a total of 11 World Series. In 1906, they won 116 games finishing 116-36 and posting a modern-era record winning percentage of 0.76. They won back-to-back World Series championships in 1907 and 1908, making them the first major league team to play in three consecutive World Series.
The first franchise owner of the team was William Hulbert, who lead the team until 1882.
In 1946, the finalized version of the 1937 logo was used and has one common blue outline, and the letters "UBS" turn red.
