Description

The American Samoa Flag was adopted in April 1960 replacing the "Stars and Stripes" and consists of a bald eagle clutching a war club and fly-whisk, a dark blue upper and lower triangles, and a red-edged white triangle. The eagle signifies the U.S and landscapes on the flag and as the U.S national Bird. The war club "uatogi" symbolizes the power of the Samoan chiefs. The fly-whisk "Fue" represents the wisdom of Samoan leaders. The colors red, white, and blue signify the colors traditionally utilized by both the United States and Samoa.
